What is Modern Impressionism?
Modern Impressionism takes the concept of the early masters of Impressionist Painting into the 21st Century. A trip which starts in 1870 where the term impressionism was applied to a group of French artist who revolutionized painting using the affect of light to give an impression of an object. Old masters, such as Degas, Manet, Renoir, Monet, and Pissarro, used this method and were referred to as the French Impressionist Painters.
The first thing to do when starting the process of creating a Modern Impressionist Painting is to decide on subject matter, medium and canvas to be used. These can be as varied as your imagination will take you. Next step is choosing brush size, pencil size, whether chalk, conte or ink. 21st Century techniques such as digital cameras and the many wonders of modern electronic technology may also be used.
